Dive Centres
The excavation operates out of two dive centres at Braye Harbour. The first is the large warehouse-like building featured in the photograph above. Its mezzanine floor is used for drafting, documentation, recording and general administration, while the ground-floor is used for eqipment maintenance and the preliminary desalination of artefacts. The second centre is a shed at dockside from where the boats depart for the site. It is used mainly for storage, compressing and dive preparation.
During the dive season the public is welcome to visit both centres, listen in on the briefings and talk to the team about the work. Visitors are also welcome to view any items that have just come in from the site, but, for a proper display of artefacts, people are advised to visit the Alderney Museum at St Anne's where, after conservation, everything from the wreck is displayed or put in storage.
